Now Viewing: kasuga_ayumuTag type: Character (春日 歩) Also known as Osaka, which is what she's most commonly called in-universe and out of universe. Although Azumanga_Daiou lacks a true protagonist, Osaka is the most popular and well known character from the series. She often has a spacy looking expression on her face. Kasuga Ayumu is her true name, but her nickname Osaka is the one everyone in her class remembers. Her nickname was given by Tomo because before she got to know Kasuga, she expected her to act like a stereotypical Osakan, loud and with a crude sense of humor. While Kasuga is actually from Osaka and speaks with the accent to show it, she does not fit the stereotype, being mellow albeit very quirky in personality. Despite not fitting the stereotype, the nickname stuck and she is exclusively referred to by that name for the rest of the series. She is often fascinated with strange things and has a rather morbid sense of humor which disturbs her friends at times. Nevertheless, she is not a malicious girl and is harmlessly eccentric. Long after the end of her series, Osaka made her return in Kiyohiko Azuma's next manga Yotsubato! as teacher, confirming that both series are set in the same universe and making Yotsubato! a distant sequel of sorts to Azumanga Daiou She is voiced by Matsuoka_Yuki.
